Rename an article (change the SKU)
Unlike most systems, Agenda lets you change an existing article’s number (SKU) after the fact. You’ll need this on supplier changes, EAN changes, rebranding.
Renames affect other documents — Agenda shows you the impact first and applies the change atomically.
How to do it
- In the warehouse: three-dot menu on an article → Change article number.
- Enter the new number.
- Optional: a reason (e.g. “Supplier changed”).
- As you type, an impact preview appears:
- how many open orders / quotes / draft invoices will be updated,
- how many open purchase orders will be updated,
- how many already-sent invoices stay unchanged (they keep the old number).
- If the new number is already used by another article, a red conflict notice appears. Pick a different number.
- Confirm with Change number.
What happens
- The article gets the new number.
- All editable documents are updated (open orders, POs, draft invoices).
- Sent invoices stay untouched — they’re legally frozen. The customer keeps a copy with the old number on it.
- A history row is written: old number → new number, timestamp, employee, reason.
- A stock movement of type “id change” is added to the article’s log (no quantity change).
100-year traceability
Ten years from now, if someone holds up an old paper invoice with the original number, the article can still be traced. The history is immutable and grows with every further change.
Permission
Renaming requires warehouse write access (Administrator, Team Lead, Accountant). The history is readable by all warehouse members.
